Natalie Tyler Tran is a video blogger on YouTube from Sydney using the nickname communitychannel. She is a digital media student at the University of New South Wales and a second-generation of Vietnamese-Australian.
Her videos include observational and self-deprecating humour. As well stream-of-consciousness commentary on social dilemmas, such as how much money to spend on gifts for friends and what is appropriate telephone etiquette. Other videos include multi-role skits, where (with occasional exceptions), Tran plays most roles, combining multiple takes using split-screen compositing. Examples include dialogue between the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy, and a practical joke by an ultrasound technician.
Her video response to racist viewer feedback has been described as "astute and scathingly funny." She has made several music videos, such as the "We Just Touched Awkwardly" song.Tran is an amateur violinist who has joked that no one is surprised when they learn an Asian plays a musical instrument.
